Wet and Windy

Postby secret squirrel on Tue Nov 03, 2009 12:09 pm

just had 4 nights away at Canterbury. Very wet and windy on Sunday but nice yesterday for getting the awning down. The dog had a good time `bunny` watching. He also had a sensational time on the beach where hes never been before.
Didnt want to come home really. Much rather spend time in the caravan than anywhere else right now.

Certainly been wet and windy up here in the north west too

Quite mild the weekend before though and managed to get away with the tent and met up with Daisy and my sister Jo at Abbey farm campsite near Ormskirk , Lancs for thier Halloween / bonfire / firework display weekend .
Great fun and the kids had a ball , lovely campsite and have already put our names down for next year .

Glad you had a good time, We came back up from Devon on Sunday and it was really wet and windy, Fortunately got the awning down on the saturday.
Was really lucky with the weather too the week we was there.
We also would rather be away in the van than anywhere else T*U
Every day should be a camping day.

Funny really isnt it? I could quite happily spend weeks in the caravan. When the kids were small we always went for 3 weeks at a time, and when we had our extension built I went away for over a month to Herne Bay on my own with 4 children. We had a lovely old Bailey Clifton in those days, which was our first caravan. OH joined us for 3 of the weeks.
I really miss the 3 week stints and 2 weeks doesnt seem enough.
Last year we went to Thetford in the first week of December and it snowed. OMG it was wonderful, possibly the best week away weve had for a very long time.
I always think that Christmas is time for being at home but I can quite understand, in some ways why people spend it in their caravans.

Yes Lorna, what a wonderful feeling waking up opening the blinds and seeing just white and the odd animal tracks in the snow.

I used to do the same with my kids when they were young just go and come back when we ran out of money lol

But we tented in those days with a big frame tent hard work but I was young and fit then...ahhhhhhh
