The best Andorra for sale on eBay

Postby rexgrant on Mon May 18, 2009 11:36 am

Hi all
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CABANON-FAMILY-FR ... 1|294%3A50
Why do I think this is the best small family tent ever made.

First of all for adults, think 3 berth ,but excellent for two adults and two small children or same sex teens.

The Cabanon Andorra is a breathable tent, that is one of the easiest of tents to erect even in strong winds, it as a totally separate kitchen area to cook in. it as a back and front doors making it possible to pitch a kitchen tent at the rear and cover both tent and kitchen tent with a tarp to make one unit. the rear door makes a perfect wind tunnel in very hot weather.
The PVC coated polyester roof is easy cleaned of bird droppings and tree sap and the skirt also is easily cleaned of splashed mud.
The green colour of this models roof is great at 0500 hrs when the dawn sun is shining through light colored thin tent roofs and waking you up the thicker polyester green roof keeps the bedroom that little bit darker so lets you sleep on
In addition you can remove the side panel and fit a toilet/wardrobe annex or anything else or fit a 2 bed extension to make it a full adult 5 berth
Here is a few pictures of our Andorra's in the past, this is my 1998 Andorra kitted out for winter camping with frame tents it is easy to add on things to make it better and the frame is very useful to hang things on side or roof  :D http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/al ... id=3622782
Next is the Andorra set up for cooking in the tent note the additional ventilation of the back door shut of in this setup for cold weather
http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=24982429
The next is a 4m X 3m Tatonka Tarp set up as a porch well poled and guyed to resist winter gales http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=24982431 should the strong wind turn to blow into the front of the tent ,the adjustable poles can be lowed or even removed to deflect the wind.Tatonka tarps a very strong.
Here is the basic summer set-up for the Andorra with a Cabanon kitchen tent at the rear http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=23160312
http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=23160316 And for real night time comfort we used two of these http://www.fishingwarehouseshop.co.uk/p ... ts_id/3817 and here they are set up with an Outwell wardrobe in the Andorra bedroom http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=23160313 the thetford porta potty lives under the bed with other things.good storage places.
Well we may as well look at the sitting area and kitchen tent set up.

http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=37094879
all in all this as to be the best around small family tent ever made. And will stand up to all the weather the UK can through at it,all year round.
So how did we get it all to camp  we used this. http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=37097451 but it as gone with all our frame tents and we will go to a boot sale with the unwanted Furniture.
All the best
Rex.

Hi Rex

We recently bought an Andorra off ebay and were wondering if we could pick your brains about something?

The frame only seems to go up one way. When we put the canvas on the frame the middle legs of the sides do not line up with the slits in the mud-flaps, and this prevents a ground sheet sitting snuggly over them, as we have to put the mud- flap behind the pole. Also the seam in the roof does not lie on the centre roof supports as I would expect it to - it is as if the frame is the wrong way around. The shorter sections are at the rear and the longer sections are at the front. There are slits in the mud-flaps but they are 4 to 5 inches away from where I would expect them to be. Are your tents the same or have you any suggestions. We seem to have the same model as your 1999 version.

Thanks, Kaz & Dave

Rex is off camping at the moment but will happily answer your query when he gets back in a few days

Hi Kaz and Dave,
I have just seen your question. I have found you have to move the legs to fit the slits were possible and lift the leg on top were they are to far away,
They do vary from tent to tent though. Even Cabanon are not perfect C*y but I hope you enjoy your Andorra as much as we have enjoyed the three we have had in the past.
