Camplet Royal 2007

Postby rexgrant on Thu Sep 10, 2009 6:12 pm

Hi all
The basic difference between the Camplet Royal and the other four models is the royal as a Ridge roof the other models are pent.
Now all I have read and seen about the Camplet is true. To-Day we spent all day setting the unit up ready to use We bought 5, 7" high under bed containers but found we could only fit 3 of them in the unit, but were enough to pack all the bits and pieces we shall require for a camp, all the pans, plates, dishes knives and forks strainers and my little pressure cooker fitted easily into the royals kitchen.
one small problem with the ridge roof pole,Camplet have fitted the adjustment at the high end so a small step as been ordered for me to adjust the pole and I was over six feet tall when I first joined the Army C**l
We put it up and down at least 5 times checking the packing arrangement until we got it right.and yes its true,I can easily erect it in ten minutes on my own, allow another 20 minutes for pegging and connecting gas and power and you could make your first cuppa allow another hour to set up 4 outwell wardrobe units and wire up the lights and fridge and microwave and heater  ,yes, 90 minutes should see me relaxing with my recovery drink b**r .
I will confirm If my estimates are correct after our first camp in the Camplet,We are going up to the midlands for a week or two at the end of this month. to here

this is a Val site.
Waiting for the builders to contact us to start the repair work,Police have still not caught the driver of the car that rammed our house yet
all the best

Hi all
We have now tested out the Camplet in the sun C**l in very heavy rain.and in some very strong winds that bent the awning poles on our neighbour new type Dandy. I did not have my anemometer with me,left in the tent gear :?: but I would hazard a guess at force 7 gusting to 9 at times wind was continues from late evening to around 0500hrs next day,my sun-canopy sat it out but was helped by the addition of 6 additional guy ropes fitted to the canopy sides with Cingons one internal windward side to stop upward lift on the frame You can see the additions on this link.
In future trips 4 additional storm poles will be added to this unit
http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=54937710
The main unit and sun-canopy + the side panel was first class the quality of the seams were not up to what I am used to in CGI canvas units but was still acceptable, the small bedroom annex was a disappointment,It leaked through the seems in three areas and condensation in the one we bought was unacceptable In the whet weather it dripped constantly, and pooled in all the low areas on the SIG.For a quoted 100% cotton canvas, this is very strange,as the breath-ability of Ten-Cate 100% cotton is well known,It makes me wonder if these annex may be made from one of the three all weather coated polyester canvas made by Ten-Cate. This would explain the condensation if not the the annex was leaking all over in the very heavy rain we had in the time at charmouth and camperlands have agreed to refund,As the sales man quoted there as always got to be a first that leaks, so our Thetford P/P will now spend the day in one of our Outwell cupboards if you remove and unzip a shelf the large porta potty fits OK and is slipped out for night use.
Yes on my first 10 days in the camplet royal, even for campers who are getting on a bit, are first class, Yes to pegging stage they are very quick and easy,
and we all know the rest depends how much you take to set up T**g .
Another neighbor called it a Tardis she could not comprehend how we got that size of a unit out of the small trailer T*U.
We should have got one of these when we sold our last caravan, these really are the ultimate trailer tent, and still living under 100% cotton canvas C**l
Regards
Rex.

Hi all
Update on the problem with the Camplet Annex that Camperlands promised a refund. Camperlands has now agreed to refund us in full for the defective annexe, so a satisfactory solution as now been reached.

[quote="rexgrant"]Hi all
My incorrect assumption about the material of the camplet annex.
It makes me wonder if these annex may be made from one of the three all weather coated polyester canvas made by Ten-Cate.

Hi all
My comment that the annexe could be made from ten-cates All-season polyester was wrong, I contacted Camplet and they confirmed the annexe was in fact 100% ten-cate cotton.
Quote from camplet . All accessories are in cotton from tencate, but you can get Royal 2010 in Acrylic, also the accessories are in Acrylic for this model.
Med venlig hilsen
Best regards
