The C & C Club site at Slapton Sands

Postby rexgrant on Thu May 28, 2009 11:58 am

Hi all
Slapton If you want to take your caravan book early very good hard standings some with good sea views.
Motor homes are accepted   with flat hard standing to use :D
Tents. this is a very good site for tents large grass EHU pitches and good basic pitches some slightly sloping but acceptable for most tent campers
The site http://www.siteseeker.co.uk/aspx/details.aspx?id=6350 and her are a few photo's we took at Slapton. Note the young man from the USA praying by the tank. http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/al ... id=5786588

The beach at Slapton sands is misleading there is no sand it is all very small pebbles see here http://rexgrant.webs.com/apps/photos/ph ... d=38348534 but it is comfortable to sit on and as the prevailing winds are off the land it makes a very good swimming beach but not recommended for unsupervised children .
Beach fishing is popular by the locals but the last time I fished their all i caught were dogfish and small pout, they told me after I was fishing two Far out for the Bass

This is set in a wonderful position for touring the South downs, the site is midway between Dartmouth and kings bridge, the sailing town of Salcombe can be reached by passenger ferry and well worth the day there.
Dartmouth itself is a beautiful sailing town were you have a choice of vehicle ferries to go across to the sea side towns of Torbay.

The Lay/Lake is the largest natural fresh water lake in the south of England and the area is recognized as one of the premier bird watching site in the south west.

This area is well worth a visit and the site is first class:D

There is a nice sized play area on site for young children.
Regards
Rex.
Camping is a special way of life, with a special kind of person who can make friends, even with other campers we have never met.

My friends, may the wind be always at your back.
